Don has a long-term commitment to Sustainability generally and in particular Energy, Water and Waste efficiency. After a high-level rugby coaching career, Don found his learnings as a coach could be applied to behaviour change more widely.
Don helped the formation of Cleantech Industries Sunshine Coast and, with three others, wrote and taught TAFE’s Diploma in Sustainability. He helped two enterprises win Queensland Government Sustainability Awards and worked around the Queensland Government’s ecoBiz program for many years.
Don was also a part of another Queensland Government project called ‘Clean Growth Choices’ helping six Queensland Council areas decide their ‘clean’ future. Partners in the project included the University of South Queensland, James Cook Uni, CSIRO and the Eco-Efficiency Group. His speciality was eco-efficiency and behaviour change, and now, in semi-retirement near Pomona, he aspires to help the Noosa community as a voluntary advisor.
